Staff Ride 2011 (22)
Our second annual staff ride analyzed the Battle of Gettysburg. We toured the battlefield and discussed the complexities of the command decisions at key points in the battle. -
Intelligence Post 9/11-- Panel discussion (6)
A panel discussion on Intelligence Post 9-11, including former CIA Director James Woolsey, Brookings Institution Senior Fellow Michael O'Hanlon, and CEO of the Intelligence and Security Academy Mark Lowenthal. Dr. O'Hanlon and Dr. Lowenthal also teach in the MA in Global Security Studies program at JHU. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Mark Stout. -
Summer 2010 course in Israel (54)
16 MA in Global Security Studies and MA in Government students traveled to Israel in July 2011 for the course, "Politics, Culture and Security in Israel." -
Crisis simulation- January 15, 2011 (17)
The first crisis simulation sponsored by the Center for Advanced Governmental Studies. The event, meant to simulate the lead up the 1967 Mideast War, saw a group of 30 students divided into teams representing Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, USSR, USA, Britain and the United Nations. -

November 4, 2011-- Symposium with Dr. John Mueller (5)
Dr. John Mueller is the Woody Hayes Chair of National Security Studies at the Mershon Center and Professor of Political Science at Ohio State University. Prof. Mueller spoke about his books, "Atomic Obsession" and "Overblown" -
Deputy Secretary Michael P. Jackson (2)
Michael P. Jackson, the Former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Departments of Transportation and Homeland Security, spoke at AAP about domestic and international aviation security challenges for 2011. -
Summer 2010 course in Europe (8)
The MA in Government and MA in Global Security Programs offered “Environmental Governance, Climate Change and Energy Security in Europe and America” at the University of Leuven near Brussels, Belgium, with a two-day trip to Berlin, Germany. This course compared the European and U.S. approaches to climate change and international efforts to address it. Students explored the evolving nature of environmental governance in Europe and the United States from a comparative perspective. -
Ret. General Michael Hayden speaks at Fall Symposium, October 22, 2009 (16)
General Hayden, the former director of the National Security Agency and of the Central Intelligence Agency, provided a unique perspective on security and intelligence issues, speaking in particular about the cybersecurity and his forecasts for both the future of the threats in cyberspace and our government's efforts to address them.
