Our degrees

Situated in the heart of Washington, DC, The Johns Hopkins University Center for Advanced Governmental Studies is the home to the MA in Government and MA in Global Security Studies programs.

Successful careers in government and politics are built on a strong foundation of knowledge regarding the role and function of government and how it impacts the economy and society. Johns Hopkins’ MA in Government courses are designed to give students a more comprehensive knowledge of government institutions, their political development, and how they interact in the policy-making process. With this knowledge, students are better equipped to examine governmental and social institutions, assess prospects for reform, effect change, and become tomorrow’s leaders.

The Master of Arts in Global Security Studies at Johns Hopkins is an innovative program that allows the ambitious students of today to become the global leaders of tomorrow. In order to understand the scope of complex threats to security in the 21st century, our students analyze military challenges, the intricacies of economic interdependence, and prospective changes in the global environment.
